Weekend News

Well turns out my Knitting guru (KG) has been reading this, as on Thursday after a not nice morning at work, the Vogue Stitchionary book appeared on my desk!! It is a really nice present and I think I will use it a lot. Certainly cheered up my Thursday.

D was away this weekend, so on Saturday KG and I went on a little girlie trip. I had heard about a knitting shop at St Abbs (Woolfish) so we went down the coast and first had lunch in Coldingham. Coldingham Priory was also having an open day so we had a look in there which was interesting.

The shop at St Abbs is small but has lots of sock yarn. We were lucky we got there when we did as the Lady was just about to leave. I got this trekking yarn:Still not content will our knitting fill, we headed back into Edinburgh and went to HK, which KG hadn't been to before. I noticed some 4ply Cashcotton in the sale box, it was love at first squeeze so obviously that had to come home with me.

KG bought some in pink and blue, and also the Easy Knitted Socks book. I also got some Brittany Birch DP needles to finish off my Booga Bag.

I have completed the main part of the bag, just the I-cord to do. I am really pleased with the colours and it has been quick to make, only started Wednesday (and not had a lot of knitting time). So a sucessful knitting weekend I think! (Just have to start knitting through my accumulating stash now).

Finished 1st Ever Socks

Both socks now finished and even better they seem to fit. Socks not as difficult as I thought.... not sure if I would say they are addictive though.

As you can see Dylan decided to get in on the act.

At the weekend he continued the shredding of the Argos Catalogue, he is almost finished with the jewellery section now.

Then it all got a bit much so he cuddled up with Mr Ted for a few hours.

Buttons!

Finally today I got some buttons to finish this off so that I can send it. They are little toggles, I wanted something in a nice bright colour to match the modern design of the jumper.

It is in DK acrylic wool that I had. Despite all the difficulties interpreting how to knit it in the round I am v pleased with it. My knitting guru liked it too and has asked me for the pattern.

Dylan went for his pedicure this morning at the vet. He is still in a bit of a grump about it but at least his nails are a better length.

This afternoon I was eyeing up some knitting in books in Blackwells, definitely going to add the Vogue Stitchionary book (Vol1) to my wish list.

Weather is rubbish this afternoon, time to stay inside and work on that 2nd sock.

Finished Sweater

Yesterday I finally finished the childs placket sweater from Last Minute Knitted gifts. It has confused me a bit knitting the sleeves in the round and knitting into the jumper in the round. Also had some problems when I dropped a stitch doing the neck and had to go back and redo the neck as I got in a bit of a pickle. I am very happy with it though... need to get some nice bright buttons then I can take a pic before I post it off to Denmark for little Thomas.

Next on list, 2nd sock for D.

Wool and Paws

This is waiting for me to make a Booga bag and my first attempt at felting.... Dylan seems to really be attracted to the smell of the Noro hopefully he doesn't want to eat it so much when it is a bag....

I wasn't sure what colour to choose so I can't wait to see what it is going to look like.

D chose this yesterday when we went for a trip to New Lanark. It is chunky and I am hoping to make a scarf for him out of it... liked the fact he showed interest so now I need to find a good pattern. Had a great day out and the wool there seems really good value and feels great.

And this is my little helper who decided to get in on the action when taking the photos this morning. Now he has started jumping on the bed there is no stopping him.... just have to keep that Noro out the way.

Some finished & current projects

This is the first project that got me knitting, its from a scarf kit. Very snuggly and warm and v long. Took me a while to get around to finishing it, seemed to take a very long time... also not easy to see where you go wrong but at least the furry bits hide the mistakes.

This is one half of a pair of socks I am making for D. He has size 10 feet so maybe it wasn't best to attempt these as my first socks as they take a while to get to the end. I am using Regia 4ply with the Regia free pattern.

They look kind of cammoflage so they will be good when we are out geocaching teehee.

This is my Ann Bud jumper in progress, its for me! Its a purply-blue colour in DK, still quite some way off being finished as it has been put to one side for socks and a baby jumper...

First Finished Garment

This was my first finished garment - well does it count as finished if it is still waiting for buttons? It was from a kit, but it wasn't as easy as it first looked. Taught me about raglan shaping etc and after some help from my knitting guru (Mum) managed to get it looking ok.
